AI-900 Azure Fundamentals Training for the Mineral Resources Industry
On November 4th 2024, I had the opportunity to deliver the AI-900 Azure AI Fundamentals training to two software developers from the mineral resources industry. Their organization is responsible for regulating quarry operations, managing permits, and overseeing royalties. This AI training session provided a unique opportunity to explore how artificial intelligence can transform traditional operations within this sector.
Inside a Dynamic Mineral Resources Framework
This industry operates within a specialized regulatory model, where royalty charges for extracted materials are adjusted based on use and destination. Unlike traditional pricing models, this dynamic framework requires advanced insights and precise management. Learning this was eye-opening, and it underscored the potential for AI solutions to optimize and enhance regulatory processes within such a complex environment. It was encouraging to see that the organization had an in-house team of developers committed to exploring AI and machine learning applications.

The developers were new to AI and machine learning (ML), making the Microsoft AI-900 course an ideal starting point. This introductory course builds foundational knowledge in Azure AI, offering insights into AI capabilities and cloud-based applications. This training is the first step in their five-day learning journey, which will eventually cover advanced tools and applications in AI-102 Azure AI Enginner Associate Program. The developers’ enthusiasm was clear—they were eager to understand AI’s potential to drive transformation in the mineral resources sector.
